SIAD isn't actually called SIAD anymore.
Most of the people listed are not students any more.

There are new faces who look like they ARE students.
There isn't another community for SIAD or whatever it's called.
Why the heck not?

So shall we kill it or keep it?

So will anyone else do this I wonder?
DSA 3004 - Dissertation

A generally sound dissertation. The overview of GTA and your understanding of gaming is strong, although told from a gamer's point of view. The interview in the appendix is a good iniciative, but it has unexploited critical potential - you could have made more out of it. The question is quite limited in scope, and although sound, your answer is hampered by rather simplistic understanding of the key concepts and critical mythology. The best part of this dissertation is the discussion of Grand Theft Auto.

Hello SIAD matey peeps. I'm a second year DSA student, and am starting to come to the end of my tether with Farnham and its extremely limited means of entertainment. I'm beginning to wish I applied at some city universities, if only for the diversity of cultures and ethnicity.
It's no wonder I know so many weed smokers here (myself included), it seems like the only thing to do in the evenings is get high.

Has anyone seen the http://www.surrart.com site yet? The lack of student interest in the BBS forum is kinda sad.

Anyhoo, off to the union for another Monday night of crap music and occasional chavs... I'll leave you with this:

Q: Steve Littman. Why? Discuss.

Been accepted onto the film and video course at SIAD. Just got a few questions.

1. Will I be disappointed?
2. What's the student village like?
3. Is weed easy to get? What's it like?
4. Is it easy to get a job after studying Film and Video here? Anyone had work experience placements or anything?

So third year peoples, may we get a show of hands who knows what they're writing their dissertation about? If you don't know then perhaps you'd be better off cowering in a corner and crying yourself to an idea. Time is running out.

Me: TBNM: Cultural Appropriation and the way it's used in video games, using Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series as a case study. Or some shit like that.

Well you said to join so I did just that!!!
When asked how to describe DSA positively it's a very hard thing to do. This random girl came over to me and asked me about it, no idea who she was or why she asked, but I answered as best I could. It's great if you know everything already and have nothing else you need to learn. It's brilliant if you want 1 or 2 lectures a month where people actually turn up, and it's good in respect that all the lecturers seem to know you by name, even if that's all they do know. That sound about right?!?!?!

And I quote from my own S.S.S:
Question Number: 22
Comment: Sitting in G14 watching Art Films for six hours hurts. A lot.

Question Number: 23
Comment: I've found DSA Yr 2 to be very unorganised. Timetables and room numbers change almost weekly, module handbooks are non-existant on certain modules (two so far out of 6) and I have missed deadlines due to this.

Student Satisfaction Survey
I got one of these through my post today, I was just putting this out there to make sure that anyone who has had to deal with the "lecturer" that is Steve Littman uses this handy little form to let SIAD know what a fuckwit they have running one of their courses.

I guess this applies pretty much exclusively to us DSA/TBNM lot but some of the rest of you might have dealt with him as well, and this is a nice way to let everyone in the Uni higher reaches how little we like the way Steve works.

First post about uni is going to be a good one!

We had our last lecture with George Barber today. Being the nice man that he is, he brought in 2 cases of Biere Du Nord stubbies for us to drink. We talked about pyschoanalysis and then watched 15 mins of Nosferatu. Finished almost an hour early too. Best lecture ever

OK so I have set it up, siad_massive is our place, folks!
It'd be good if us lot at least join, then maybe it'll grow and be great. And we now have a public forum with which to whine about TBNM and stuff, yeah...
